The famine in Africa, with particular attention to Somalia is devastating. I cannot bear to see human beings wasting away from hunger right before our very eyes. It is more than just sad, it's tragic. I understand that the situation in Somalia is complicated, but food and shelter is a basic human right.
Mothers are giving birth while trekking in the desert, surviving only on water. Sometimes, unable to continue because of the large number of children they already have, the mothers leave the weakest child on the road to fend for him/herself. Millions of people in Africa are starving while we bitch and complain about downsized portion sizes at restaurants, or how upset we are that the ice cream shop closed early.
There were many, many fundraisers developed when the disaster struck Japan in March. Where are the fundraisers for Africa?
