Plant Killer Gets Second Chance

After the death of both my succulent plants, Echey and "Creeti" (the former named by me because it was an echeverria, and the latter named by my niece just because), I decided to bring in new plants and try my hand at maintaining them.

Although I can make cut flowers last in a vase for more than 2 weeks (of course it depends on the variety of flower, but I don't mind changing the water when needed), I've always failed at keeping a plant. Echey was with me for about a year or so, but I somehow made the fatal mistake of over watering and using filtered water at that! I am so silly.

HOW CAN I KILL A SUCCULENT PLANT?! ...the most easiest plant to take care of, which seems to thrive on being neglected, and I KILLED IT.

Well, for Valentine's Day Danny got me a lovely orchid plant. I think I've heard somewhere that orchids can be finicky, but I'll do my best to keep it happy and healthy:

Phalaenopsis

Then, yesterday while strolling the Strathcona Farmer's Market, we came upon a lovely stand with potted plants and succulents. I couldn't resist getting some:

Still not sure what type this is....anyone know?

Aloe aristata

I feel like I should name them, but maybe until I've known them for a week will I find the appropriate name for them :)

My lovely plant family....FOR NOW...

I re-potted them and I hope they're doing ok. I'll check back in for a progress report, hopefully!
